What is a self care kit?
A self care box, or self care kit, is essentially a collection of items that help you take care of yourself, and will make you feel better. You can grab your self care box whenever you’re feeling a bit off, a bit down, in need of a break, or for a good old self care day.
Your self care box should contain items that make you feel comfortable, happy and taken care of. It’s a gift from you to you, so whenever you are feeling in need of it, it’s a bit like getting a hug.
You know when you’re not feeling great and someone makes a cup of hot chocolate or some food for you and it feels so nice to be taken care of? That’s how your self care box should feel.
How to create your own self care kit?
It is quite simple to create your own self care kit, and does not have to be expensive at all. It really depends on you.
You can make your self care box as elaborate as you like! As long as you have some kind of container, box, basket or even just a drawer to put your things in, and things to put in it you have a self care kit!
You can of course make it nice and decorate it, or purchase a beautiful box or basket to use as your self care kit, but it’s really not necessary.
The most important thing is that you have as many of these things in one place as possible, so that they’re easy to find when you need them.
You can also check out your local second hand store if you want to put everything in a basket. It’s the perfect place to find things like that at a much lower price!
Of course, you can also create a self care box for someone else, or a self care gift basket. In that case, make it look nice and be sure to include things that are comforting to the other person.

What to include in a self care box?
Of course, it is completely up to you what you put in your self care box. Like I said, just make sure to fill it with things that calm you down, make you feel good, and make you happy. Other than that it’s up to you, but here are my suggestions.
Fuzzy slippers
A cozy day isn’t finished until there is something comfortable on your feet. these slippers look so nice and warm and are sure to keep your feet happy.
Fuzzy socks
if you don’t want your toes to get cold, try these fuzzy socks. They are so cute and will definitely make your day a bit brighter.
A comfy outfit
whether you prefer a soft robe or cute pajama’s, a comfy outfit is a must for any self care day. This robe looks like it would be like wearing a hug, and from the reviews i can only say that over 4000 people agree with that statement. These pajama’s look so cute and soft, and with over 2700 5 star reviews you can’t really go wrong.
Bath salts
I think one of the first things to when you feel like breaking out the self care box, for whatever reason, is to get into a nice hot bath, preferably with some extra goodies in it. Bath salts are amazing for your skin, and they smell really nice as well. This one is designed to dissolve dead skin cells and rejuvenate your skin, all while you’re laying back and relaxing.
Bath roses
If bath salts aren’t really your thing, try these bath roses. They are amazing to give as a gift, but you can also keep them for yourself. Not only do they look stunning, the scent of rose is said to remove negative energy which adds to the relaxing qualities of taking a hot bath!
Make up wipes
But not just any make up wipes, sustainable face cleansing cloths! Regular make up wipes are terrible for the environment, and we don’t want the environment to suffer from our self care, now do we?
These cleansing cloths are just as efficient at taking off your make up and cleaning your face, and can be thrown in the washing machine. Super easy!
Facial spa
Steaming your face is so good for your skin, and it is very simple to do at home with a facial spa. You can even add some essential oils to benefit your skin, such as tea tree oil.
I think this spa is so pretty and will look amazing in any bathroom. It also has nano technology and negative ions so the moisture particles can penetrate your skin more efficiently and hydrate your skin even better!
Face mask
After you’ve steamed your face, it’s time for a face mask. your pores are open and receptive for whatever face mask you choose to put in.
This face mask is super popular, and for good reason. The clay really cleanes your pores, leaving you with glowing skin.
Foot spa
While you got your face mask is on, treat your feet to a little foot bath. Add some tea tree soak.
This one has a vibration and massage function which is absolute bliss. Your on your feet a lot of the time, so you really have to take good care of them and treat them a bit!
Nail polish
Time to do your nails! Doing my nails is so therapeutic for me personally as it takes such a level of focus and concentration, it takes everything else off my mind. And leaves me with beautiful nails, which boosts my confidence.
This set is perfect to do your nails at home, as it is complete and has everything you need to do your nails in the comfort of your own home, in your pjs with a big cup of tea!
Ordinary peeling
This peeling has single handedly changed my skin. I’ve been dealing with a lot of cystic acne in the last 2 years, and had the scars to prove it.
But with this peeling, the scars are fading so fast! It is amazing, and it’s fun to pretend you’re a vampire. Or just had a blood facial.
It’s also great to scare other people with. I try to do mine every 3 days for 10 minutes, but it depends on the weather and the sun.
Make sure to stay out of the sun or wear good SPF the days after!
Argan oil
I always use argan oil on the ends of my hair and it is so nice! It makes my hair so nice and soft and really helps prevent split ends. It is so moisturizing and it seriously helps my haircuts last longer.
I also like to use argan oil as a moisturizer after I’ve washed my face. especially after the peeling it is asking for some hydration, and argan oil is the perfect solution.
Rose quartz + Jade roller
Facial massages are all the rage right now, and rollers and gua sha tools are the perfect addition to that.
For extra cooling effects, keep them in the fridge!
The rose quartz roller also has a vibrating function, which helps your body with the toxins and puffiness in your face.
Rose quartz and jade have different effects, as you’d expect from crystals. Rose quartz is an expression of love and self love, while jade brings harmony and good luck. It really depends on your preference, one crystal is not better than the other.
Castor oil
I’ve been using castor oil on my hair for a while now and both me and my hairdresser have noticed a difference! It soothes my scalp and helps my hair grow a lot.
I always thought it had a certain point it wouldn’t grow past (cause it never did) but now it has surpassed that point!
Massage it into your scalp, let it sit for as long as you can (I do it overnight, but 24h would be even better) and wash it out. Really amazing stuff!
Olaplex
Another hair saviour. Ever since I’ve started using Olaplex 2 years ago my hair has been so much better!
I naturally have pretty thin and brittle hair, and it has been a lot stronger since starting olaplex. It is a bond treatment, not a hair mask, so put it in overnight and wash it out in the morning. It’s a miracle worker for damaged hair!
Body scrub
Isn’t the feel of your skin after a good scub amazing? I feel like such a goddess when I’ve scrubbed, and honestly can’t stop touching my skin.
Scrubbing is so good for your skin, as it gets rid of all the dead skin cells, and improves circulation.
This one is all natural, organic, has only 7 ingredients and smells like Jasmine, which will transport you to tropical islands and summer paradise.
Body butter
Body butter feels so much more luxurious to me than body lotion, as it is much thicker and just feels more moisturizing
This one, with shea butter, almond oil and honey won’t only smell absolutely amazing, it also has so many good quailities that will transform your skin!
Snacks
Cookies! Who doesn’t love cookies? I love these as they are vegan and higher in protein, while still being absolutely delicious. And they are definitely one of the best vegan cookies I have tried. I also love that they’re individually packed, as for cookies that’s a bit safer for me (read: otherwise I might eat the whole pack)
“>Dark chocolate. Isn’t it the absolute best! I genuinely prefer dark over white or milk, as they are usually too sweet for me.
“>This combination pack is great as it gives you more options, They all have less than 5 ingredients, are organic and support women. Treat yourself while doing something good, the perfect combination!
Brownies! This baking tray is amazing as the insert makes sure that you have
1) perfectly shaped brownies, neatly divided
2) crispy edges everywhere
Need I say more?
Aromatherapy spray
Something to put in your self care box to set the mood is aromatherapy. This spray is a super simple option, without any fuzz. It is all natural and you can spray it around the room, on your pillow or on your clothes so you can linger in the smell all day.
Candles
Candles are such a mood and make your home or room smell amazing.
This one is more of a clean scent, so you can pretend your house is spotlessly clean and you’ve just done laundry. I love it on warm summer days, or days I’ve actually cleaned my house to extend the smell.
Oil diffusers
If you’re not comfortable with candles, add an oil diffuser to your self care box. They can change the mood and can really impact how you feel. On top of that, they are beautiful to look at. I love that they’re so decorative now, and are even beautiful when they’re turned off.
If you’re not comfortable with candles, add an oil diffuser to your self care box. They can change the mood and can really impact how you feel. On top of that, they are beautiful to look at. I love that they’re so decorative now, and are even beautiful when they’re turned off.
They are the perfect addition to your box, but of course you don’t only have to use them when you’re in a self care mood. I use mine all the time, and even have one in my office.

Essential oils
What is a diffuser without essential oil? I think getting a kit to start out with is abslutely the best things to do, as you can get tired of just one pretty quick, and getting a set will save you some $$.
This kit is a small set of 3 which is perfect if you’re just starting out. They are 3 small bottles of their most popular single oils and includes lavender, lemon and peppermint. Perfect for any moment of the day, and any mood.
A cozy blanket
A blanket is the best thing to cuddle up on the couch with. It is cozy, keeps you warm, and makes for great decor when it’s out of use.
I think this blanket looks super nice and cozy, and it might find its way to my shopping cart very soon.
Himalayan salt lamp
A himalayan salt lamp looks beautiful whether it is turned on or off, and creates such a warm glow in your room, it’s impossible not to love one. I’ve had one of my wish list for a while, and I know I will be getting one.
On top of its general beauty, the negative ions it emits help purify the air in the room. Salt lamps can also help with sleeping problems, migraines and many other things.
So aside from it being a beautiful lamp in your house, you’re really getting yourself something that contributes to your general health and wellbeing!
Something to remind you how great your are

Put this poster on your wall and read it whenever you’re in need of your self care box.
I wrote this poster as a letter to you to remember how amazing you are. This one is sure to improve your confidence and feel instantly better about yourself!
A good notebook
A journal can be a great thing to have in your self care box. I always write whenever I feel a bit off, and 9/10 times it makes me feel better. I have a post on starting a journal as well as 50 questions if you need some help getting started, but I highly recommend you do.
Personally, I love these oxford journals. The paper is a lot thicker, which prevents your ink from bleeding. Even with my fountain pen, the ink does not bleed and that’s really imoprtant to me. I also feel like the thick paper gives it a bitt more of a luxurious feel.
Pretty pens
I am a sucker for nice pens and these are some of my favorites. The staedtler triplus pens are amazing both for writing and to use in my coloring books. This is a simple set with 20 pens, which will definitely cover your basic needs.
If you’re a bit more creative, or like to use them for your coloring books, I recommend getting more than 20 pens. I have this set of 36 and it is perfect for my needs of writing and coloring mandalas.
A coloring book
All I asked for christmas last year was a coloring book. I absolutely love them and they’re the perfect distraction and relaxation. I get so focused on coloring with the right colors and not messing up, it is very relaxing for me. It is also a great way to not look at a screen for a bit. I personally love mandalas, but you can get adult coloring books with so many different pictures now, you’re sure to find one you like!
If you don’t have them already, include some coloring pencils as well!
A self love workbook
The ‘love yourself’ coaching workbook is the perfect solution if you want to learn to love yourself more. Filled with 21 journal prompts and printable self love affirmation sheets, this will definitely teach you how to love yourself more, so you can be happier.
