For anyone who wants to build a regular yoga habit, 30 day yoga challenges are the perfect solution. Created by a teacher, these 30 days are meant to get you started off in the world of yoga, or to advance your practice and improve your skills.
There is always a challenge that meets you at the level you’re at, and yoga can be easily adapted to be easier or more challenging when you need it to be.
I really enjoy yoga challenges, as they make it easier to stick to the habit every day. You don’t have to hunt for a new video to try, as the next one is lined up for you. There are really no excuses not to do it, especially since you can do yoga in your sweatpants and hoodie if you like!

Why do a 30 day yoga challenge?
As said, a 30 day yoga challenge is the perfect way to start doing yoga. It’s accessible, they’re usually beginner level, and can always be adapted to wherever you are in your practice. They are specifically designed for you to do them 30 days in a row, so they will take care of your body whilst also being challenging.
What are the benefits of yoga?
Yoga is very calming for the mind, and is a perfect moment in your day to center yourself and get out of your head and into your body. It can help with anxiety and stress, and can be a really good workout if you want it to be.
It’s a great way to get into the habit of moving your body regularly, and an even better way to relax your muscles and take care of your body. The way we sit, walk, stand and sleep is often not great for our bodies, and yoga can help you release tense muscles and get rid of knots.
It can help you be more confident, as your body can do more than you thought. This also is a great help with learning to love yourself, as you learn to appreciate your body for what it can do.
What do you need to do a yoga challenge?
You really don’t need much to do a yoga challenge. The main necessity is a yoga mat, but you might also want to get accessoires like blocks or a strap.
For a mat you can get a simple exercise mat, but I do recommend a yoga mat. Some of them have lines that help you align your body the right way, and others are equipped with a towel-like layer, which makes your mat more grippy as you start to sweat more. These are also machine washable. Order your yoga mat with Amazon prime and get it delivered ASAP, so you can start your yoga challenge whenever you want! Pick your favorite yoga mat below:
As for blocks and straps, it is a matter of preference, but I think it doesn’t matter much. I would recommend this eco-friendly set though, as many blocks are made of foam.
The best 30 day yoga challenges
AloYoga: 30 days of mindful movement
You’ve probably seen Alo Yoga before on instagram. Plenty of girls wear their clothes on a daily basis, but they do more than make pretty clothes. Alo has an online yoga platform where you can do daily yoga classes if you’re a member, but they created this 30 day challenge 3 years ago. The videos are all around 30 minutes, so they’re not super long, and definitely no longer than a normal workout.
Yoga with Adriene
Adriene does a 30 day yoga challenge at the start of each year, so she has a couple to pick from. They all have a slightly different theme, and they are really good to get started with yoga.
She explains everything so well, and is more about the intention and the movement than perfecting every little thing. It’s about showing up, not showing up perfectly.
The challenge I linked is the one from January 2021, but she has also collected a ton of her videos in daily playlists for 2020, with every month being a different theme. So they are all 30 day challenges you can do as well! This makes it super easy to make yoga a daily habit, because all of the thinking has been done for you.
Yoga with Tim
If you think yoga is only for women, think again. Many men are doing and seeing the benefits of yoga. Tim has made a 30 day yoga challenge playlist as well, and while it looks slightly more advanced, remember that yoga is always adaptable to your specific level. If you’re familiar with yoga, this is a great option to challenge yourself a little more, and advance your practice.
Do you yoga: 30 days of yoga challenge
This challenge speaks for itself, and is really great because almost all videos are under 15 minutes! This is perfect if you’re low on time, or are physically unable to do longer exercise.
It’s a wonderful way to still be able to do yoga, whatever your time restraint is. Their experienced teacher will take you through the daily practice, and by the end you’ll feel more flexible and refreshed.
Yoga with Kassandra: morning yoga movement
This is another 30 day yoga challenge filled with shorter videos. They are all 10-15 minutes, and are designed to move your body first thing in the morning. So this makes moving your body daily as simple as waking up 15 minutes earlier, rolling out of bed and starting the video.
It feels so good to stretch your body at the start of the day, after you’ve been lying in bed for (hopefully) 7-8 hours.
Fightmaster yoga: Hatha yoga happiness
This challenge is designed to bring a little happiness into your life, and to have made you a happier person by the end of the 30 days. The videos are longer, as Hatha yoga is a slower yoga style. It’s focused on holding poses for several breaths, so it’s more challenging on muscle endurance, but less challenging on the cardio aspect of it.
As it gives you more time to sink into a pose, it has added flexibility benefits, and a bit of extra relaxation. But don’t underestimate it, it’s still a solid challenge!
